I’m glad to share with you the letter of my colleague Pedro Ferreira MD:
Soon, attending a three-month fellowship in 2007 in a European Centre of reference – the Senology Department of the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori di Milano, I realized my passion for breast surgery.
Since then, I dedicated myself to help to develop Setúbal’s Hospital Breast Unit, inserted in a very enthusiastic and competent group that aims to improve the quality of the services rendered to the population and to deepen its differentiation and full dedication to Senology.
After becoming a specialist in 2009, I concluded the Master in Senology and Breast Diseases of the Medicine School in the University of Barcelona and acquired the certifications of The European Board of Surgery (EBS) (Breast Surgery) in 2016 and ESO Certificate of Competence in Breast Cancer in 2018.
Presently I integrate a group of specialists of the Portuguese Society of Senology in the elaboration of national criteria for the accreditation of Portuguese Breast Units.

A constant update and innovation in the area is essential to maintain the welfare and scientific quality levels so, this time, “all roads lead to Naples”!
G.RE.T.A. is a diffuser pole of the knowledge of oncoplastic breast surgery. Its events ensure a great opportunity for renowned experts and young surgeons from various parts of the globe to meet and share experiences and knowledge, allowing everyone to close ties, also the youngest to improve their skills. All this, in a pleasant and friendly environment that includes the sharing of artistic and cultural experiences.
This is an excellent opportunity to discuss the oncoplastic reconstruction issue in a relaxing environment in order to find common points, clarify divergencies and meet a common path for the oncoplastic surgery development and ensure the best to increase the quality of care provided to our patients.
This time to discuss basic skills of medical treatment is very important, as surgeons need to discuss patients as a whole, especially when this discussion takes place in a MDT.
